This banner represents the Pan American Nikkei Convention, or COPANI, which has been held every two years since 1981. COPANI brings together Nikkei living in various countries with their varied backgrounds to discuss issues common to Nikkei communities in North and South America. Most participants have mainly been 2nd generation Nikkei, but with the passage of time, an increasing number of 3rd and 4th generation Nikkei have joined. COPANI has also helped to increase cross-border exchanges among Nikkei living in different countries, and created new bonds among them.
