Emergency Assistance in response to Hurricane “Beryl” disaster in Grenada

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to Hurricane “Beryl” disaster, upon the request from the Government of Grenada.
1. Disaster situation
Hurricane “Beryl”, which has caused serious human and property damage on July 1st. According to UNOCHA and the Government of Grenada, the damage situation as of July 9 was as follows:
Deaths 4 people
Affected 44,000 people
Evacuees 2,500 people
Damaged houses
・Carriacou Island: landslides and storm surge had caused damage. 98% of buildings and facilities were destroyed.
・Petite Martinique Island: 100% of buildings were damaged.
2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Miami)
Tents
Plastic sheets
Sleeping pads
Water purifiers
B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to St. George's on the next available flight.
