Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Mozambique in Response to the Damages caused by the Heavy Rain

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the disaster, upon the request from the Government of Mozambique.
1. Disaster situation
The Heavy Rain, which occurred in December 2025, has been causing serious human and property damage. According to INGD (National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction), the damage situation as of 21 January 2026 was as follows:
Deaths [122]
Affected [680,000]
Flooded houses [82,609]
Collapsed houses [4,971]
2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Dubai)
Tents
Blankets
Plastic sheets
Portable jerry cans
Water purifiers
B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Dubai to Maputo on the next available flight.
