JICA President Tanaka Met with Prime Minister of Belize Briceño

On July 22, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko held talks with Prime Minister of Belize John Antonio Briceño at JICA Headquarters.
This was Prime Minister Briceño’s first visit to Japan since taking office in 2020. At the opening of the meeting, President Tanaka expressed appreciation for the understanding and support shown toward the dispatch of JICA volunteers, noting that 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the JICA Belize Office’s establishment and start of volunteer dispatch activities.
In response, Prime Minister Briceño shared his deep gratitude for JICA’s cooperation and discussed current challenges and situations in various fields, including bridge construction, environment, disaster risk reduction, and education. He also highlighted the hope of further deepening bilateral relations going forward.
President Tanaka subsequently reiterated JICA’s commitment to maintaining a strong connection with Belize, in line with JICA’s vision of “Leading the world with trust.”
