JICA President Tanaka Met with Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa Mashatile

On March 17, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa Paul Shipokosa Mashatile in Tokyo.
At the outset, Deputy President Mashatile conveyed his gratitude for JICA's cooperation in the Republic of South Africa.
In response, President Tanaka stated that the Republic of South Africa plays a central role in the regional integration of Southern Africa and development across the region, and expressed his expectations for continued leadership of the country in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) this summer. Furthermore, he stated that JICA would like to support the Republic of South Africa's efforts in the renewable energy field towards achieving a decarbonized society.
Both parties further had a constructive discussion on a wide range of topics, including human resource development through vocational training, and Science and Technology Research Partnership．
