JICA President Tanaka met with Executive Director of UN Women Bahous

On December 10, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women Sima Bahous at JICA Headquarters in Tokyo.
The two organizations have long collaborated to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, including advancing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda across the world. During the meeting, both sides reflected on the achievements of their partnership to date and expressed mutual appreciation.
To further strengthen cooperation by leveraging their respective strengths, JICA and UN Women signed and exchanged the first organizational-level Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC). Through this MoC, the two organizations reaffirmed their commitment to jointly promote gender equality and women’s empowerment around the world, including Japan.
