JICA President Tanaka Met with President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan

On December 19, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tokyo.
At the outset, President Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude for JICA's cooperation in the country’s priority areas, such as healthcare, energy, transportation, education and industry development and conveyed his expectations for JICA’s enhanced activities. In addition, President Mirziyoyev shared the significant increase in the proportion of female in JICA trainees, which was achieved after the previous meeting.
In response, President Tanaka requested for the cooperation to steadily formulate and implement projects in Uzbekistan and conveyed gratitude for the leadership taken for the improvement of gender equality.
Both parties also welcomed the new projects agreed on this occasion, such as “Livestock Promotion and Animal Health Enhancement Project” and exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in industry and investment promotion as well as human resource development sectors.
