JICA President Tanaka Met with Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay

On March 13, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of the Kingdom of Bhutan at JICA headquarters in Tokyo.
At the outset, President Tanaka noted that the year 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Japan, during which a number of commemorative events and high-level exchanges are expected to take place.
In response, Prime Minister Tobgay expressed his appreciation for JICA’s long‑standing cooperation in Bhutan and conveyed his hope to further strengthen bilateral cooperation as the two countries celebrate this milestone year.
Both parties further exchanged views on how Bhutan and JICA should work together in the years ahead, in light of Bhutan’s future development priorities.
