JICA President Tanaka Met with Solomon Islands Prime Minister Wale

On July 24, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with Prime Minister Matthew Cooper Wale of the Solomon Islands in Tokyo.

At the outset, President Tanaka expressed JICA’s commitment to cooperating with the Solomon Islands for its development and further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

In response, Prime Minister Wale expressed his appreciation for JICA’s cooperation in the Solomon Islands and conveyed his hope for further deepening collaboration between the two countries.

Both parties further exchanged views on future opportunities for cooperation aimed at promoting the continued development of the Solomon Islands, including human resource development.

In addition, in the presence of Prime Minister Wale, President Tanaka signed a loan agreement with Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Houenipwela for a Japanese ODA Loan under the Development Policy Loan for Strengthening Fiscal and Economic Resilience.
