JICA President Tanaka Met with Philippine Senate President Gatchalian

On November 6, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with the delegation led by Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian of the Republic of the Philippines in Tokyo.
At the outset, Senate President Gatchalian presented the Philippine Senate Resolution and a Certificate of Appreciation for JICA to President Tanaka. Senator Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, one of the sponsors of the Resolution, expressed the appreciation for JICA's longstanding cooperation.
Senate President Gatchalian also highlighted JICA’s contributions to infrastructure development, peace and development in Mindanao, and people-to-people exchanges, noting that these efforts have significantly contributed to the development of the Philippines.
In response, President Tanaka expressed his appreciation for the Philippine Senate’s recognition and support of JICA’s cooperation in infrastructure development and peacebuilding efforts in Mindanao, and reaffirmed JICA’s commitment to the Philippines’ sustainable growth and peace.
The two sides also exchanged views on future cooperation, including development of the railway and agricultural sectors.
