Signing of Grant Agreement with Guinea: Contributing to the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases including COVID-19 and Ebola virus through the development of facilities for inspection, research, and training

On May 11, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Republic of Guinea in Conakry, to provide grant aid of up to 22.27 billion yen for the Project for Construction of National Institute of Public Health (INSP).
By constructing facilities and installing necessary equipment under this project, INSP, which provides high-level inspection in Guinea, will strengthen the capacity for diagnostics, surveillance, quality control, training, and research. This project will contribute to establish resilient health systems in Guinea thereby supporting the achievement of SDGs Goal 3.
This project is in line with JICA's new global initiative to promote health and medicine, which aims at reinforcing health care systems in response to the international epidemic of infectious diseases.
In regard to the detailed design of the project, JICA has already signed an agreement to provide grant aid of up to 143 million yen in January 2021.
