On March 11, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Royal Government of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, to provide grant aid of up to 2,786 million yen for the Project for Expansion of Water Supply System in Svay Rieng.
Rural cities in Cambodia are facing inadequate water supply systems. Accordingly, JICA has been expanding water supply systems and enhancing public utility capacity operation and maintenance in the main rural cities through providing financial and technical cooperation.
The objective of this project is to stabilize the water supply service and to improve access to safe water in Svay Rieng City which is one of the main rural cities, thereby contributing to the improvement of the residents’ quality of life.
