On July 25, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of India in Delhi to provide Japanese ODA loan of up to a total of 100,000 million yen for the Project for the Construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (III).
This project aims to develop a high-frequency mass transportation system by constructing a high-speed rail along an approximately 500-km section between Mumbai in Maharashtra and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The project will improve the efficiency of the transportation network in the region and contribute to the broad economic development of the target area, thereby contributing to SDGs Goals 8 (Decent work and economic growth), 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities), and 13 (Climate action).
