2023.06.28
On June 23, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Solomon Islands in Honiara, to provide grant aid of up to 2.011 billion yen for the Project for the Improvement of Kilu’ufi Hospital.
Kilu’ufi Hospital in Malaita Province, Solomon Islands, is the second largest hospital in Solomon Islands after the National Centre Hospital in the capital, and is categorized as a reginal general hospital serving the province for surgery and other operations. Since its establishment in 1967, the hospital has been unable to meet the demand for medical care in the province due to inefficient hospital flow lines, deterioration of the medical equipment and the lack of human resources and facilities.
Under this project, the delivery ward, the central clinic ward and medical equipment at Kilu’ufi Hospital will be improved in order to enhance the quality of medical services at the hospital. It is expected that this project will contribute to the improvement of the quality of health services in Solomon Islands. This project will also contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goal 3(Good health and well-being).
