Signing of Japanese ODA Loan Agreement with Bangladesh: Contributing to the acceleration of economic growth through the development of core infrastructure

On September 30, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Dhaka to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to 217,556 million yen for the Matarbari Ultra Super Critical Coal-Fired Power Project (VII).
The objective of the project is to increase the stable power supply and to diversify energy sources in Bangladesh by constructing an ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant and related facilities such as a port for coal delivery, transmission lines, and access roads in the Matarbari area, thereby contributing to nationwide economic development. The project will contribute to the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 7 (Affordable and clean energy) and 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure).
