JICA Launches Gender Bonds; JPY 30 Billion Non-Guaranteed Domestic Bonds in Two Tranches

On November 21, 2024, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) launched Fiscal Investment and Loan Program (FILP) Agency bonds as “Gender Bonds”; JPY 20 billion with a 5-year maturity, and JPY 10 billion with a 10-year maturity. Net proceeds of the bonds will be allocated to finance newly committed or ongoing projects which enhance gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The Bonds are denominated in Japanese Yen without government guarantee.

JICA will not knowingly allocate the net proceeds of the bonds to activities related to coal-fired thermal power projects.
