On December 17, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the capital city Islamabad, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Improvement of Maternal and Child Health Equipment in Flood-affected and Surrounding Areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

- Project Objective
The objective of the Project is to strengthen the diagnostic and treatment systems in the target facilities and improve the regional referral system through the provision of medical equipment which are necessary to provide maternal and child health services such as antenatal and postnatal checkups as well as medical services for high-risk pregnant women and newborns according to the role of each facility, at the primary, secondary and tertiary health facilities which are located in flood-affected and surrounding areas, thereby contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services for mothers and children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
