On September 30, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the capital city Tokyo, Japan, in the presence of President Anura Kumara Disanayaka of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and JICA President Tanaka Akihiko, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Enhancement of Productivity in the Dairy Sector.

The Project for the Enhancement of Productivity in the Dairy Sector

(Kandy district in Central Province, Northern Province, Eastern Province, North Central Province and North Western Province)

- Project Objective
The objective of the Project is to improve raw milk productivity by/through procurement of equipment to improve livestock disease response capabilities, promote genetic improvement of dairy cattle, and improve feed production capabilities in Kandy district in Central Province, Northern Province, Eastern Province, North Central Province and North Western Province, thereby contributing to inclusive economic development through improved livelihoods for small-scale dairy farmers.

(a) procurement and installation of equipment to improve livestock disease response capabilities, promote genetic improvement of dairy cattle, and improve feed production capabilities
