On December 5, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito de Arequipa S.A. (hereinafter referred to as “CMA”), the Republic of Peru's largest municipal credit and saving bank headquartered in Arequipa, the country's second-largest city.

JICA's loan will be used for lending to women-led micro and small enterprises in Peru, contributing to the promotion of women's financial access. CMA conducts training programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of women entrepreneurs, and JICA will also promote collaboration in such human resource development.

Since this project aims to promote the financial inclusion for women in Peru, it also contributes to the 2X Challenge initiative.
