Signing of Grant Agreement with Cambodia: Contributing to professional development for teachers in basic education through establishment of Teacher Education College

On June 25, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Royal Government of Cambodia in the capital city Phnom Penh, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Establishment of the Teacher Education College in Kampong Cham Province. The signatures were exchanged between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth of the Royal Government of Cambodia and Chief Representative Sanui Kazumasa of JICA Cambodia Office.

The Project contributes to enhancing the capabilities of teachers engaged in basic education through the promotion of Teacher Education College, thereby supporting the development of human resources that will sustain Cambodia’s society and industries. In addition, the development of human resources in Cambodia is expected to encourage the expansion of Japanese companies into the country.

The Project for the Establishment of the Teacher Education College in Kampong Cham Province

- Project Objective
The objective of the Project is to improve the capacity of teachers trained at a Teacher Education College (hereinafter “TEC”) in Kampong Cham Province by providing educational facilities and equipment necessary to upgrade the existing teacher education institutions to the TEC, thereby contributing to strengthening the teacher education system and enhancing the quality of basic education.

1,189 million Japanese Yen

- Implementation Period (planned)
40 Months(Construction of the facility is expected to be completed in 28 months. The Defect Liability Period for 1 year after delivery of the equipment. )
