Signing of Record of Discussions on Technical Cooperation Project with Fiji: Support for promotion of mainstreaming and investment in disaster risk reduction

On October 9, 2019, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions with the Government of the Republic of Fiji for the Project for Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction, a technical cooperation project.

The project aims to strengthen the capacity to implement and promote disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities in line with international, regional and national policies through capacity building for hazard assessment and establishment of implementation mechanism for national and local DRR planning and activities. The project will contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goals 1, 11, 13 and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (*).
* The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 is a global agenda that was adopted at the Third UN World Conference for DRR in March 2015.
