Signing of Record of Discussions on Technical Cooperation Project with Brazil: Support for combating illegal deforestation using advanced technologies

On December 12, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions with the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Brasilia for the Project for improving control of illegal deforestation through advanced SAR and AI technologies in the Brazilian Amazon, a technical cooperation project.

The project aims to strengthen measures and management capabilities related to illegal deforestation through detection and prediction of deforestation using radar satellite and AI technologies in the Brazilian Legal Amazon area, which has the largest tropical forest in the world. This project contributes to the improvement of conservation in Amazon forests and also contributes to the achievement of SDGs Goals 13 and 15.
