Signing of Record of Discussions on Technical Cooperation Project for Development Planning with Jordan: Support for capacity building to formulate a Tourism Development Master Plan in Petra region

On Oct.28th, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions with the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the Project for formulating tourism development master plan in Petra region, a technical cooperation project for development planning.

The project aims to contribute to the promotion of resilient and sustainable tourism development in the area surrounding the world famous Petra ruins through formulating a comprehensive tourism development master plan. The project will contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goals 8 and 12.

Specific project details (provisional) Formulating a sustainable Tourism Development Master Plan through capacity building of PDTRA, multiple pilot projects (demonstration experiments), and presenting the Master Plan to other regions in Jordan and neighboring countries as a role model for regional tourism development.
