The Establishment of Office for Sustainability Management in JICA

Sustainability issues related to climate change, nature, human rights, and other global issues are becoming a growing concern internationally, and efforts to address these issues are being intensified.
JICA has been providing cooperation in these areas for many years. In order to centrally follow up on sustainability-related discussions and further promote organization-wide efforts in the future, the Office for Sustainability Management was established within the General Affairs Department as of April 1, 2023.
By taking the lead in promoting sustainability in its own organization and operations, JICA aims to become a more trusted presence among developing countries, partners, and others, and to expand its project impact.
