2023.10.17

On Sunday October 08, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Demeke Mekonnen officially inaugurated the TICAD KAIZEN Center. H.E. Takako ITO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ethiopia, H.E. Melaku Alebel, Minister of Industry and Ms. Sachiko IMOTO, Senior Vice President, JICA, all acknowledged the contributions made by their governments in their speeches and shared the hope that they had for the future of KAIZEN in Africa.

The TICAD KAIZEN Center will allow Ethiopia to continue to be a central player in disseminating KAIZEN throughout Africa. The Center is fully equipped with 15 training rooms able to accommodate 320 people per day. While the Center will host the headquarters of the Kaizen Excellence Center, it will also be able to accommodate domestic and international trainees in its dormitories, which can lodge 60 trainees at a time. The video conference room as well as the large meeting halls will enable the Center to hold multiple conferences and trainings at the same time. The new facilities will make it possible for KEC to increase its current training program fivefold from 10,000 trainees per year to 50,000 trainees.

Built through a Grant Aid agreement of 27.5 million USD from the Government of Japan, the TICAD KAIZEN Center is intended to become the hub for KAIZEN research, expertise and practical experiences from Africa and other parts of the world.
