Startups Visit Japan for Training
2023.07.24
As part of JICA's Project NINJA (Next Innovation with Japan), which is a project to foster the startup ecosystem, a pitch event was held at JICA HQ for 6 Ethiopian startups. 310 participants attended online and in-person.
Mr. Selamyhun Adefris from MInT gave a presentation on "Startups in Ethiopia" while Mr. Sato Hiroyuki from Ridgelinez presented on "Blockchain in Africa” looking at Japan's business and investment in Africa. This was followed by pitches from the six startups, who are all working on solving social problems in Ethiopia. Following a voting session by judges and participants, WeCare Digital Health won first place, followed by Gebeta Software PLC (Gebeta Maps). The startups were awarded trophies by H.E Belete Molla Getahun, Minister of MInT and H.E. Bayissa Badada, State Minister of MInT, who were also in Tokyo courtesy of JICA.
