Sharing the experience of PNG’s mathematics education cooperation in Micronesia!

From January 26 to February 13, the JICA Education Policy Advisor and PNG national staff traveled to three Micronesian countries—the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau—to introduce the PNG national mathematics textbooks and the JICA’s Math App (JICAL).

High Interest in PNG's National Mathematics Textbook
Currently, these countries import math textbooks from Singapore or the U.S., as they do not have their own national textbooks. Our discussions helped highlight the significance and benefits of having its own developed textbooks, sparking great interest among education officials and stakeholders.

JICAL Math App Gains Recognition
The offline, free-to-use JICAL math app received positive feedback from the Ministry of Education, school principals, and teachers. Many expressed enthusiasm about using the app in their classrooms once it is officially released!

Strengthening Regional Collaboration
In the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia, we explored potential partnerships between JICA and a development partner to enhance regional collaboration in education. These discussions opened new possibilities for strengthening educational initiatives across the Pacific.
