Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Papua New Guinea proudly participated in two key events hosted by the National Training Council (NTC) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The events—a National Workshop and an Overseas Scholarships Exhibition held on November 20–21, 2025—focused on the theme “From Access to Impact: Rethinking Overseas Scholarships in the New Era – 50 Years On.”

Chief Representative of JICA PNG Office Mr. MATSUOKA Hideaki, was invited to the National Workshop at the APEC Haus to present on JICA’s Training and Scholarship Program. Mr. Matsuoka informed the guests that JICA provided trainings and scholarships opportunities in Japan to over 5,000 public servants, with a foundation of mutual learning process.

JICA PNG Office also participated in the Overseas Scholarships Exhibition at the Taurama Aquatic Centre and set up an interactive display booth to share information on its Long-Term and Short-Term Training Programs, which aims to build human resource capacity and contribute to PNG’s sustainable development. Visitors had the chance to learn about application processes, eligibility criteria, and the benefits of studying in Japan. 

Other development partners also displayed their scholarship programs, creating a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
