Activities in drought areas: Index Crop Insurance & Tied Ridge Technique

JICA is supporting a drought-responsive agricultural technology called "Tied Ridge" as well as Agricultural Insurance (Vegetation Index Crop Insurance, VICI) in project areas in Oromia Region facing the risk of drought. Tide ridge technology is a water harvesting method that uses the space between the ridges.

Farmers can expect to cope with income loss by purchasing insurance as a risk finance activity, as well as reduce yield losses in the time of drought by saving water between the ridges through tied ridge technology.

JICA will continue to contribute to rural resilience enhancement in Ethiopia.
