Japan ODA 60th Anniversary Kick-Off Event

In 2014, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippines celebrated its 60th Anniversary of Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) in the Philippines.

JICA launched its celebration on 7 August 2014 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. Former Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Toshinao Urabe and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative in the Philippines Noriaki Niwa led the ODA celebration, along with over 200 Japanese and Filipinos from the diplomatic, business, and government sectors commemorating Japan ODA's 60 years in a gathering in Manila.

During the event, JICA likewise launched a commemorative magazine for the 60 years of ODA, announced the young student winners of JICA's First National Essay Writing Contest, and early JICA trainees and alumni.

The event served as a thanksgiving to the pillars and stakeholders of the fruitful cooperation of Japan and Philippines through the years.
