Project News

On 05 March 2013, the second Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) was held. By the date, there was no Management Committee (MC). The project made assistance in each stage from member selection, invitation to organizing the meeting. At this JCC, establishment of the MC was approved and the first MC meeting was organized. At the MC meeting made an address of thanks to the Project and the FY2013 plan was approved.

From April, in order to set up a foundation for the sustainable management of the National Park after the project period, three Working Groups (WGs) will be established;
Conservation Improvement WG (WG-I)
Local Revitalization WG (WG-II)
Environmental Education WG (WG-III)

To enhance the effectiveness of the Management Plan through practice, five pilot activities will be implemented.

1. Elaboration of draft conservation and facility complex plan of Divjake recreation area
2. Development of local resource maps with stakeholders
3. Introduction of organic farming schemes
4. Environmental education with school teachers and pupils
5. Bird Census with participation of local people

The MC is expected to lead sustainable management of the Park after the project period. The project enhances participation of the local governments and stakeholders. We assist capacity building of the local man power to play active and independent roles.
