Conservation Improvement Working Group Activities Implemented

Conservation Improvement Working Group deals with the environmental issue at the recreation zone that is most clearly recognizable by general public. At the moment, the number of visitors concentrates in the summer months. Due to lack of infrastructure and management plan, impact on environment is large in such forms as garbage, waste water and so on. The pilot activity is to elaborate conservation and facility complex plan of to make the recreation use sustainable in the future.

Among three recreation zones in the National Park, Divjake Beach was selected as it has been the center of the beach tourism in the area. Survey studies with stakeholders have been initiated in order to implement a conservation plan for the sustainable future. It is particularly important to cooperate with the National Park Management Office and Divjake Municipality. Border line study and visitor interviews at beach have been made.

The process of elaborating this plan is expected to be a model case for other two recreation zones in the Park. For the conservation and sustainable use of the National Park, it is essential to have local stakeholders' participation. The project assists sustainable management of the National Park through enhancing participation of various stakeholders with varied interests.
