First meeting of the Working Group (Environmental Education and Ecotourism)

The first meeting of the Thematic Working Group (WG) on Environmental Education and Ecotourism was held on 23 September 2021 in Divjake Karavasta National Park (DKNP) with 15 attendants.

In order to achieve Ecosystem-based management in DKNP, the project aims to establish a cross-organizational linkage and cooperation between different administrative levels, NGOs, local residents, individuals and enterprises have business in the park area, through the Park Management Committee (PMC) and working groups. It is important for the management of the park that all relevant stakeholders should stay connected and cooperate with each-other. Four (4) working groups will be held for four (4) different issues: "Biodiversity", "Sustainable Agriculture", "Sustainable Fisheries" and "Environmental Education and Ecotourism". The meeting was attended by the head teachers of primary and secondary schools in DKNP, certified guide from the area, representatives of enterprises that runs hotel in the park, and local NGOs.

The Park Management Office gave an overview of the project, introduced the purpose and position of the PMC and the WGs, and explained the procedures for preparing the Action Plan. They also discussed the challenges facing DKNP and the possibilities of environmental education and eco-tours.

The project will continue to prepare the first meetings of the other three WGs and to support them in the preparation of action plans that WGs must submit it to PMC.
