Upazila Integrated Capacity Development Project (UICDP) implemented by Local Government Division (LGD) and JICA conducted a two-day long workshop on "Strengthening the Capacity of Committee on Violence against Women and Children" for the said Upazila Committee respectively at Ukhiya and Teknaf Upazila Parishad on 6-7 September & 8-9 September 2021.

This workshop was organized based on the result of rapid assessment on the impact of COVID-19 on the host community and the situation of Gender Based Violence (GBV) toward women and girls in Teknaf and Ukhia Upazilas of Cox's Bazar district in February 2021.

The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Upazila Vice Chairman (female), line department officers, teachers' representative, journalist and NGO workers who are the members of Upazila committee for the prevention of Violence Against Women and Children including chairpersons and member secretaries of all Union Committees that deal with GBV cases participated in the workshop.

The workshop mainly focused on the Gender based Violence (GBV) and its related laws, causes and consequences. Participants also discussed the way forward, how to integrate GBV issue into Upazila Development Plan and conduct training programs in collaboration with Upazila Governance and Development Project. Mrs. Srabosty Roy, Deputy Director of Local Government (DDLG), Cox's Bazar joined as a Chief Guest of the workshop in both Upazilas.

স্থানীয় সরকার বিভাগ (এলজিডি) এবং জাইকা কর্তৃক বাস্তবায়িত উপজেলা ইন্টিগ্রেটেড ক্যাপাসিটি ডেভেলপমেন্ট প্রজেক্ট (ইউআইসিডিপি) গত ৬ ও ৭ সেপ্টেম্বর উখিয়া উপজেলা পরিষদ সম্মেলন কক্ষে এবং ৮ ও ৯ সেপ্টেম্বর টেকনাফ উপজেলা পরিষদ সম্মেলন কক্ষে 2 দিন ব্যাপী "নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন প্রতিরোধ বিষয়ক উপজেলা কমিটির সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধি" শীর্ষক কর্মশালা আয়োজন করে I

ফেব্রুয়ারী ২০২১ সালে কক্সবাজার জেলার টেকনাফ এবং উখিয়া উপজেলায় কোভিড -19 এর প্রভাবে Host সম্প্রদায়ের এবং নারী ও মেয়েদের প্রতি জেন্ডার ভিত্তিক সহিংসতার পরিস্থিতির উপর করা দ্রুত মূল্যায়নের ফলাফলের ভিত্তিতে এই কর্মশালার আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল।

এই কর্মশালায় নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন প্রতিরোধ বিষয়ক উপজেলা কমিটির সদস্য যেমন ইউএনও, উপজেলা ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান (মহিলা), সরকারি বিভাগসমূহের কর্মকর্তাগন, শিক্ষক সমিতির সভাপতি, এনজিও প্রতিনিধি ও সাংবাদিক প্রতিনিধি সহ সকল ইউনিয়ন কমিটির সভাপতি এবং সদস্য সচিবগণ যারা সহিংসতার ঘটনাসমূহের বিষয়ে ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করে থাকেন, তারা অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

কর্মশালাটি মূলত জেন্ডারভিত্তিক সহিংসতা (GBV) এবং এর সাথে সম্পর্কিত আইন, কারণ এবং পরিণতির উপর দৃষ্টি নিবদ্ধ করে। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা এগিয়ে যাওয়ার উপায়, কিভাবে উপজেলা উন্নয়ন পরিকল্পনায় জিবিভি ইস্যুকে সমন্বয় করা যায় এবং উপজেলা প্রশাসন ও উন্নয়ন প্রকল্পের সহযোগিতায় কিভাবে প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচি পরিচালনা করা যায় তা নিয়েও আলোচনা করেন।

উভয় উপজেলায় অনুষ্ঠিত কর্মশালায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনাব শ্রাবস্তী রায়, উপপরিচালক, স্থানীয় সরকার, কক্সবাজার।
