The Second Phase Project Started

PhotoSelection of Themes with BPC Management

The JICA Technical Cooperation Project for Improvement of Efficiency for Rural Power Supply - Phase II (JICA TCP-II) has started in March 2012.

The objectives are (1) Capacity to handle areas identified under Priority Issue Solving Activities (hereafter refer to as "PI activities") is enhanced, (2) Operation and Maintenance manual (hereafter "O&M manual") is introduced for rural power supply and (3) Training capacity of the Central Maintenance and Training Division (hereafter (CMTD), Begana in distribution operation and maintenance is upgraded.

The following five themes as priority issues are selected by the BPC management for the above mentioned (1) and task members shall carry out the PI activities with the technical assistance of JICA Experts.

Theme 1: Protection Coordination Reliability Trasigang
Theme 2: Standard Installation of Fault Location Reliability Wangdue Phodrang
Theme 3: Calculation on Methodology for Correct Reliability Indexes from Customer View Point Reliability Dagana (All ESDs)
Theme 4: To Identify Real Technical Loss Loss Reduction Lhuentse
Theme 5: Improvement of Billing and Collection System in Rural Area Customer Satisfaction Tsirang, Thimphu

PhotoTraining Equipment provided under the Phase I

For the above mentioned (2), JICA Experts shall make comments and recommendations on the draft of O&M manual prepared by BPC. The comments from ESDs will be also reflected on the O&M manual.

For the above mentioned (3), since a human resources development policy is required to upgrade the training capacity, Central Maintenance & Training Division (hereafter "CMTD") shall work with Human Resources and Administration Department (hereafter "HRAD") with the technical assistance of JICA Experts.
