In order to carry out the PI activities, the site surveys are conducted to confirm the actual situation.

Theme 1 "Protection Coordination": JICA Experts and PI members visited Chenary Substation (33/11kV), Khangma Substation (132/33/11kV) and Rangjung Hydropower Station (2200kW) in Trasigang where there has been the problem of protection coordination, and confirmed the results of testing and inspections of protection devices.

Theme 2 "Standard Installation of Fault Location": JICA Experts and BPC PI members had meeting with ESD Wandgue and visited distribution facilities in rural area in Wangdue Phodrang to confirm the actual situation.

Theme 3 "Calculation on Methodology for Correct Reliability Indexes from Customer View Point": JICA Experts and BPC PI members had meeting with ESD Dagana and visited distribution facilities in rural area in Dagana. Since the current tripping report is insufficient to analyze the correct reliability indexes, ESD Dagana shall collect data and keep records in detail.

Theme 4 "To Identify Real Technical Loss": JICA Experts and BPC PI members visited ESD Lhuentse which has high/negative loss, to confirm the measurement and calculation method of loss, and also visited Tangmachu Substation (33/11kV) and confirmed the pilot feeder for loss calculation.

Theme 5 "Improvement of Billing and Collection System in Rural Area": JICA Experts and BPC PI members visited ESD Tsirang where is required for improvement of billing and collection system as most of customers lives in rural areas, to confirm the current billing and collection system.

The presentation of progress PI activities was held on 16th May 2012 in Thimphu and comments and advices were made by JICA Experts and PI members based on the results of site surveys.
