Installing New Intensity Meters All Over the Country
The Department of Geology and Mines (DGM), the Ministry of Economic affair has been installing a new set of intensity meters in 205 villages (Gewog, hereinafter) all over the country since February 2020. At 20 administrative centres in district level (Dzongkha), seismic intensity meters have already been installed and operated. Its real-time data has been collected in DGM. Furthermore, DGM is expanding and strengthening the seismic intensity observation network to the Gewog level, and DGM is planning to finish installing all Gewog by March 2021.
