MVRI kick-off seminar was held

On August 31, 2016, the project kick-off seminar was held to share its outline, purpose, and work plan with the relevant parties in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) in Phnom Penh.

A total of 24 persons involved, namely the Senior Minister, Secretaries of MPWT and other important administrative officers, the Senior Representative of JICA Cambodia Office, the Chief Advisor of the Project, JICA Experts, etc. all attended the seminar, which featured the following presentations:

  • Opening Remarks (H. E. SUN Chanthol, Senior Minister of MPWT)
  • Introduction of Japanese Project Members (JICA Chief Advisor)
  • Project Work Plan (JICA short-term expert (Project Manager))
  • Major issues on the Vehicle Administration in Cambodia (Director, General Department of Transport, MPWT)
  • Introduction of Vehicle Registration and Inspection System in Japan (JICA short-term expert (IT))

Multiple IT systems for vehicle management-related administration are currently being introduced in Cambodia and these endeavors were introduced in the opening remarks. The Cambodia side showed high interest and expectation of the presentation on the Japanese IT system for vehicle management.

Project activities will be implemented by exploiting Japan's know-how and experience, in close collaboration between Japanese experts and the MPWT administrative officers.
