After the 3rd JCC Meeting, the project activities seemed to be accelerated focusing final goals and here let me show some training activities for a few months.
In early December 2022, the project conducted a trial training on "Developing Management Plan for Protected Areas" in Mondulkiri Province with the purpose of evaluating the materials and lesson plan which are intended to be used in the regular trainings. The 5-day training instructed the MoE and Mondulkiri provincial officials how to develop the management plan and zoning of protected area in line with the technical guidelines of the Ministry, "Technical Guideline for Developing Management Plan for Protected Areas in the Kingdom of Cambodia" and "Zoning Guidelines for the Protected Areas in Cambodia". Approximately, 20 participants from 6 departments of the General Directorate of the Natural Protected Area and Mondulkiri Province Department of Environment were trained by Mr. Piseth, the leading trainer.

In late December 2022 and February 2023, the project offered a capacity building training to rangers in Stung Treng Province to strengthen their competence in supporting communities in the protected area on sustainable natural resource management. The training was conducted by the Department of Environment, twice to accommodate the number of 60 rangers in the province. At the time of development, the first training was divided into the 2 sessions due to availability of the suitable trainers. The topics provided by the training were leadership, first aid, Community Protected Area (CPA) management, law enforcement, technology for conservation and map reading. Notably, RECOFTC provided the trainer of a part of training subjects as collaboration between SNRM and PaFF3, the initiative funded by SDC (The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) and Sida (The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency).

Lastly, between 22 Feb. and 1 Mar. 2023, it was the JICA Training for the Knowledge Co-Creation Program (Group and Region Focus) conducted remotely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Mr. Laro, Deputy Director of Stung Treng Department of Environment was one of the trainees in this training for the "Proceeding Ability of Policy Making for Sustainable Forest Management", although he was the side of the organizer of the ranger training, as mentioned above. At the time of the Covid-19, annually 4-5 subjects on the forest sector online trainings were conducted by JICA. Similar to his case, most participants from Cambodia spent slightly busy times for the trainings with their usual assignment.

The results of these trainings shall be reported, shared, and evaluated for the betterment of the next ones. Let us provide later the details to these, as well as the other trainings to operate National Forest Monitoring System (NFMS), conducted by the Short-term Experts Team of SNRM.
