Participation in the Knowledge Co-creation Program" Methodologies and Approaches to Realize Smart City"

Four officials from the Siem Reap participated in JICA's Knowledge Co-creation Program" Methodologies and Approaches to Realize Smart City" in Japan (Tokyo, Yokohama, Chiba, Period: September 2nd to 15th, 2022). The purpose of the program is to learn about Japan's smart city experiences through fieldwork and case studies, deepen their understanding of how to utilize technology and how to coordinate with stakeholders as a government official, and organize the actions that local government or municipality should take. The government officials' participants from Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Rwanda, and Indonesia also deepened their networks.

As a result of the program, participants from Siem Reap learned a lot of components, such as basic knowledge about smart cities and its promotion methods, digitalization efforts, private companies' system development, renewable and smart energy management, TOD(Transit Oriented Development), disaster prevention, QOL(Quality of Life), and ecology city in Japan. The participants showed their willingness to feedback what they learned in this program to Siem Reap.
