The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) conducted the smart cities workshop on April 27th and 28th, 2023, at the Angkor Paradise Hotel in Siem Reap.

This workshop, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, chairman of the Cambodian Smart City Committee, invited ASEAN smart city network model cities (Phnom Penh City Hall, Siem Reap, Battambang, and Preah Sihanouk provinces) and relevant ministries. It aims to raise awareness about NUA and smart cities in Cambodia.

Mr. Piseth, Director of Investment Planning Division, Siem Reap Provincial Administration (SRPA), represented the JICA project and reported on our activities. Siem Reap Province and JICA, which are the only organizations in Cambodia that are implementing a project to realize a smart city now, have a wide range of requests for cooperation, for example solving waste disposal problems, and revitalizing the tourism sector.
