Project activities started in Djibouti.

"The Project for Capacity Development of Midwives" started its activities in Djibouti at the end of April, 2013, which has been implemented for almost two years. Two Japanese experts arrived in the country on the 24th of April, and the 1st of May respectively, and they commenced services. First of all, the experts paid courtesy calls on the Department of Maternal and Child Health in the Ministry of Health, its counterpart agency, the JICA Djibouti Office, the Embassy of Japan in Djibouti, donor agencies in the health sector, such as WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, and USAID, and others to explain the project outline and the activity plans as well as to exchange information related to assistance programs and current situation of maternal and child health in Djibouti. They also participated in working group meetings, which has already been held several times by the counterparts to develop in-service training package for midwives. There, the experts grasped the development status of the tools so as to revise the activity plans of the project.
