The first meeting of the Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) (June 20th, 2013)

The first meeting of the Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC was held in June 2013. About thirty people attended the meeting, including a secretary general of Ministry of Health as a chairperson of the JCC, in-charges of the Department of Maternal and Child Health which is the implementation body of this project, representatives of other relevant departments of the Ministry, representatives of JICA Djibouti Office, and other stakeholders like development partners in the field of maternal and child health.

After an opening speech by both the chairperson of the JCC and the Resident Representative of JICA Djibouti Office, a project team gave presentations of the project, such as an outline, the modality of implementation, the progress of activities and an annual plan. Then, discussions and consultations were taken and some remarks were made by participants. For example, the project was appreciated that it aims to improve the capacity of midwives and to strengthen the follow-up system in the field. Meanwhile, it was emphasized the importance of implementing the project with taking into account the coordination with development partners as well as the sustainability of the project.

Besides, a logo of the project was unveiled during this meeting. The logo was selected and arranged based on feedbacks from Djiboutian counterparts and Japanese experts. The motif of design is derived from confidence between the midwife and the mother, and the background of the logo is colored with national colors of Djibouti. Hereafter, the logo can be used in various scenes.
