Selection of the Project Target Villages

In January 2011, the MAF and JICA Project Teams, in consultation with NDF and MAF District Office in Aileu, selected six project target villages among those located in the priority sub-watersheds, namely three villages in Noru sub-watershed in Laclo River Basin and another three in Bemos sub-wateshed in Comori River Basin, as show below:

Noru sub-watershed in Laclo River Basin

  • Suco Faturasa (Remexio Sub-district)
  • Suco Fadabloco (Remexio Sub-district)
  • Suco Hautoho (Remexio Sub-district)

Bemos sub-watershed in Comoro River Basin

  • Suco Tohumeta (Laulara Sub-district)
  • Suco Talitu (Laulara Sub-district)
  • Suco Madabeno (Laulara Sub-district)

After the selection of the villages, the MAF and JICA Project Teams jointly held the consultation meetings at the target villages and confirmed the villagers’ willingness to take part in the project activities explaining the outlines of the project activities as well as the basic rules that the villagers who would participate in the project activities should follow. Village leaders and other local communities in all the target villages consented to the Project and expressed their willingness to participate in the project activities.
