Progress of the project activities conducted during October 2011 and March 2012

We are happy to introduce some highlights of the progress of the project from October 2011 to March 2012.

(1) Output 1

i) Activities in the 1st Batch Target Villages (Suco Talitu, Madabeno, Faturasa and Fadabloco)

The NGOs with the assistance of the JICA and MAF Project Teams assisted local communities in the target sucos in the selection of the following micro programs in October and November 2011.

b. Income Generating/Livelihood Development-MP (IG/LD-MP)

The local communities in the target sucos, with the assistance of the NGOs and the Project Teams, carried out the following activities as preparatory works for the implementation of the micro programs in February and March 2012.

  • Formation of the beneficiaries' groups;
  • Determination of rules and visions/missions of the group;
  • Study tour to villages that can be role models for the groups; and
  • Development of work plans of the micro programs.

In parallel with the micro program implementation, the NGOs and the Project Teams had assisted the local leaders of the target villages in the implementation of the village regulations by holding

ii) Activities in the 2nd Batch Target Villages (Suco Tohumeta and Hautoho)

The NGOs conducted the village profiling survey (PRA and baseline survey) in the village in October and November 2011.

(2) Output 2

In addition to on-the-job training on project monitoring and implementation of the micro programs, the JICA Project Team held the technical seminars on the following topics for the counterparts (C/Ps).

  • Selection of priority MPs (7 C/Ps participated) on October 7, 2011
  • Outlines of the selected MPs (7 C/Ps participated) on November 25, 2011
  • Group Organization for implementation of MPs (15 C/Ps participated) on February 13, 2012

On January 31 and February 6, 2012, the JICA Project Team held the feedback seminars to help C/Ps make annual work and budget plans for FY 2012 and 2013. The draft work and budget plans for both years were submitted to NDF/MAF in April 2012 for review and considerations.

(3) Output 3

The second meeting of the working team for CB-NRM policy making was held on November 29, 2011, and the members of the working team agreed on a plan for the meetings from November 2011 to June 2015 to draft a new policy document on CB-NRM.

(4) Overall Project Management

The second JCC meeting was held with the participation of five (5) national directors of MAF and Chief Representative of JICA Timor-Leste Office on November 30, 2011. The members of JCC unanimously approved the revised PDM (PDM ver. 1), revised PO (PO ver. 1) and APO for the 1st year (Jan. 2011-Mar. 2012).

Besides, the JICA and MAF Project Teams held the second project introductory seminar with the participation of 23 NDF officials on October 26, 2011 to share the progress of the Project with the NDF staff.
