[No. 37] Farmers in Vemasse have started to use the threshing machines provided by the Project!!

Farmers in Vemasse have started to use the threshing machines provided by the Project in the first harvest of this year. They were delighted to thresh their paddies using the new machines after the harvest. Although they had to wait a little while for their turns to use the threshing machines, they now spend less hours waiting compared to last year.

Mr. Cancio Damião da Costa (40), a farmer from Vemasse Tasi said that thanks to the threshing machines donated by the Project to his farmers' groups, he was able to thresh his paddies soon after the harvest. Last year the quality of his paddies was negatively affected by the heat and rain while waiting for the threshing machines.

Mr. Faustino Soares (48), another farmer from Vemasse Tasi said that last year he had to go around the field every day to check the threshing machine as he worried that other farmers might take his turn of using it. Now that he joined the farmers' group, the operator will come directly to his paddy field. He hoped to sell his paddies to the ACELDA if the result of the harvest is satisfactory in this season.

Thus, they have started to work hard and dream to have the threshing machines by their own in the future.
