Intensive training and advice on proposals by Japanese professors

Six Japanese professors came to Timor Leste in March 2008 for the capacity development of the teaching staff. The contents of the training in three departments are Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Communication Engineering.

In addition to the usual training, the professors gave advice how to make good proposals since the Ministry of Education secure the budget to purchase laboratory equipment for the Faculty of Engineering, UNTL. Although the budget is secured, it was very difficult for the Faculty of Engineering to send a proposal to the Ministry of Education, because the teaching staff had never written a proposal before. By two-weeks effort of the professors, the teaching staff managed to complete the proposal with total amount of 264,000US$. The Ministry explained that the equipment would be procured in the year 2008. (By the end of March 2009, a part of the equipment has already been delivered to Hera campus)
