Technical Seminar by Japanese professors

At approximately 9:15 a.m. the meeting room at East Timor Development Agency (ETDA) filled up with students and faculties from The University of Timor-Leste (UNTL), ready to learn from the presentation made by the professors and some of the students that were trained abroad in Japan. As the meeting started, more students attended, making the ceremony presentation full of listeners. The total amount of students and faculties attended the Presentation Ceremony was approximately 110.

The presentation was about Recent Development of Composite Bridge, Research on Vibration of Rotating Machine, Lightning, Landscape Disaster and Mitigation, Introduction to Feedback Control.

To start the day for the ceremony, Mr. Victor da C Soares (Dean) of the Faculty of Engineering (UNTL) voiced the opening remarks and followed by; Dr. Yoshiaki Okui, Dr. Hiroo Taura, Dr. Daohong Wang, Dr. Ken Kawamoto, and Dr. Yasuhide Kobayashi. The students and faculty were amazed how natural disasters can affect the society in so many different ways and also impressed by how the professors explained about different ways to monitor and evaluate each of the natural disasters.

Close to the end of the ceremony, presentations were also made by Mr. Junior Raimund Da Cruz, Mr. Fransisco Xavier Ximenses, and Mr. Vital Ximenes about their short term training experience in Japan. It seemed they were happy to share and present to their fellow members and students about what they’ve learned in Japan. Their presentations were very impressive and took the attention to motivate others to strive for more knowledge.
