Handover ceremony of technical equipment

Laboratory equipment was provided for the Faculty of Engineering, National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL). On 18th June 2009 at 13:30, UNTL and JICA held a handover ceremony at Hera Campus. In this ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering welcomed Director of Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education, Vice Rector Ⅰ of UNTL, Secretary of the Embassy of Japan and Chief Representative of JICA Timor-Leste office.

For this time, JICA provides equipment (approximately 250,000USD) for Electric/Electronic Engineering Department such as electric generator, electrical transmission lines simulation system, experimental load apparatus, and so on. To take an example, electrical transmission lines are widely used to transmit high voltage signals over long or short distances with minimum power loss. In other words, we can measure power generation, power transmission and power distribution for efficient use of electrical energy.

For CADETES Project, this handover was the last time to provide laboratory equipment, as most of the important equipment for practical activities has already supplied. JICA expects that the laboratory equipment will be fully utilized for academic activities at Hera campus. In order to further utilize the equipment, six Japanese professors will come to Timor-Leste to conduct intensive training from 7th August to 11th September.
