On 22nd June 2009, four professor of Institute of Technology in Surabaya (ITS) came to Timor-Leste by responding a request from UNTL. Professors conducted the intensive training for the teaching staff of the Faculty of Engineering, UNTL until 3rd July 2009. The academic cooperation started from May 2008, and this is third time that ITS professors conducted intensive training for UNTL faculties. For this time, the professors organized courses in the field of Hydro-Energy (Mechanical Engineering), Construction Management (Civil Engineering), Digital Electronics (Electrical Engineering) and Analog Interfaces (Electrical Engineering). As the teaching staff of UNLT could understand Indonesian Language, the training was conducted very effectively. Rector of UNTL as well as all the faculties were satisfied with the contents of the training and appreciated the support from JICA.

On the other hand, as a part of the academic cooperation, six faculties of UNTL have been studying in ITS. It is expected that those faculties would obtain higher academic degree and contribute to the development of the Faculty of Engineering, UNTL in the near future.
